Sydney Brewery continues to impress the Australian beer market with a swag of medals at recent AIBA, CBIA and International Beer Challenge competitions.

Hot on the heels of being the first small brewery in history to take out the ‘Champion Draught Beer’ with Lovedale Lager and ‘Champion Cider’ with Sydney Cider at the 2015 Sydney Royal, Sydney Brewery has won two more Trophies at the 2016 Australian International Beer Awards.

Lovedale Lager won Best European Style Lager again, after also winning it in 2014. Head Brewer, Michael Capaldo, believes that “the recognition we have received for our beers and ciders by the industry through such awards as the Sydney Royal Beer & Cider Shower and AIBA is a reflection of our commitment to quality”.

Glamarama Summer Ale also raised the bar for small Australian breweries, winning the 2016 AIBA Trophy for ‘Best International Lager’.

More recently at the Craft Beer Industry Association Awards, Sydney Brewery won 4 Silver and 6 Bronze medals, with every beer entered winning a medal including specialty beers, ‘Alter Ego’ an Imperial Oatmeal Stout crafted for GABS Festival Sydney, ‘Salaryman Lager’ and ‘Nulla Natural’.

Then at the International Beer Challenge just judged, Sydney Brewery picked up 3 Bronze medals for Pyrmont Rye IPA, Paddo Pale and Darlo Dark.

The expansion of their Lovedale Brewery is foreseen to be completed by late October this year, with the bottling line and new cannery to now be housed in a larger purpose built facility.

As an extension of the Schwartz owned Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, beer-enthusiasts will have a more enticing brewery visit and growing demands for the award winning range will be met.

Sydney Brewery brought their Alter Ego along to this year’s GABS Festival Sydney, held on 27th – 28th May at the Australian Technology Park, Eveleigh.

For this SPECTAPULAR occasion, we brewed a special edition 9.5% Imperial Oatmeal Stout… Alter Ego. Crafted as a hybrid of one of our favourite seasonals, Potts Point Porter, this stout presented a delicious blend of intense chocolate, tobacco and raisin flavours.

Our mini-events took form with a “Meet the Brewer” session with Michael Capaldo our Head Brewer and a Cider & Cheese / Lager & Charcuterie tasting with Sydney Cider, Lovedale Lager and Berry’s Creek Riverine Blue… another big ‪#‎brightciderlife‬ moment for Sydney Brewery!

Sydney Brewery was thrilled to be part of the 2nd annual “Palm Beach Beer Fest”, held at Club Palm Beach on Saturday 23rd January 2016.

Along with the great competition of fellow Aussie breweries, there was a very successful turnout of ladies and gents from the northern beaches..all whom enjoyed a good craft beer.. and even more-so found themselves loving our Sydney Cider and Agave Ginger Cider to refresh from the day’s hot, hot, hot humidity!!

We were serving up our entire packaged range for $5.00 per bottle and some very desirable take-away prices at $10 a 4-pack and $60 a carton.

By 6.00pm the band “Los Skeletone Blues” kicked off their set in the beer garden… and by gee, was it time for a beer!!

We look forward to next year – expect to see us around the northern beaches till then!

The Craft Beer Industry Association Awards 2015 proved to be an epic night. With an abundance of bearded strapping young chaps, flowing IPA’s and crafty Watermelon Sour lager.. we sure felt like Cinderella at the Grand Ball. It was magical feeling to not only have a smorgasbord of Australia’s best craft beer in one room, but to be surrounded by the Brewers and brewery teams that created them.

Sydney Brewery took home a Silver Medal for Glamarama Summer Ale. Between receiving this award and our partnership with Sculpture by the Sea at this beers beautiful homeland, Tamarama, it has been a very GLAMARAMA-OUS past month!

We also took home Bronze Medals for our Darlo Dark, Potts Point Porter and our Lovedale Lager, recently awarded Champion Draught Beer at the Sydney Royal Beer & Cider Show.

Congratulations to each and every Australian craft brewery who entered and attended, now for next year… let’s keep producing these tasty little RIPA’s!!

For the second year running, Sydney Brewery is over the moon to be partners with Sculpture by the Sea!

This iconic event, currently celebrating its ‘nineteenth annual exhibition’, showcases the creative talent of 107 artists from 19 countries. This near two decade long tradition plays a major “…part in developing Australia’s reputation as a sophisticated and cultured nation by exhibiting some of Australia’s leading senior and emerging sculptors together with some of the world’s leading sculptors”.

With this exhibitions backyard being the mesmerizing outlook of Tamarama Beach – honestly, is there a better location to enjoy one of our Glamarama Summer Ale’s? Furthermore.. what better way to kick off a Sydney summer than with Sculpture by the Sea and a beer that will present such memories into tropical citrus aromas and a crisp, clean finish!

We kicked off Sydney Craft Beer Week 2015 on Thursday 15th October launching Schwartzenlager, our collaboration brew with the Keg & Brew andDove & Olive. Thursdee arvo beers never felt so good.. with complimentary tastings served by our Head Brewer, Michael Capaldo.

Schwartzenlager is a 6.4% Californian IPL

The nature of this brew stays loyal to the lager tradition of crispness and the need for hops. Being a 6.4% 52 IBU lager, we have used only the finest hops from the West Coast of the USA. Tropical fruits of guava and pawpaw greet at the nose, before the balance of bitterness and malt combine to create a lager that you want to jump out of the chopper for more!

Click here to view a snippet of the collab brew in action when James (D&O) and Zak (K&B) came to our brewery in the Hunter to make some magic…

Hasta la vista,

Sydney Brewery xx
